Canfield: Private Funeral Services were held on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at Thompson Funeral Home, 4221 Market Street, Boardman for Kathryn Heaver Armstrong, 96 of Canfield who died Sunday morning, September 4, 2011 at Clare Bridge of Austintown.

She was born February 11, 1915 in Boardman, Ohio, the daughter of the late Jefferson Davis Heaver and Anne Elizabeth (Moyer) Heaver.

Kathryn was a graduate of the Boardman High School, class of 1933, the Heidelburg College, class of 1938 and earned her master's degree from Kent State.

She taught in the Boardman School system before her marriage to William J. Armstrong in 1944 and again from 1959 till her retirement in 1980. She was the Science Coordinator and created the Environmental Lab at Glenwood Middle School.

Kathryn was an active member of John Knox Presbyterian Church for over 50 years and served as an elder, Sunday school teacher, and was on the Board of Meals on Wheels. She belonged to NEA, OEA, BEA, MCTTA, Mu Chapter, DKG, several card clubs, Cantoners, and was a charter member of Fortnightly Club. She loved to play golf and traveled all over the world, extensively in the Far East.

She leaves her brother, Dr. Robert Heaver of Naples Florida, nieces Cathy Hunt, Lori Heaver, Nancy Heaver, Darylen Best. nephews Jeff Heaver and Bob Heaver, and devoted caretaker, Charles Brown of Canfield.

Besides her parents, Kathryn was preceded in death by her Husband William J. Armstrong whom she married in 1944, died August 30, 1974, two brothers John Heaver and David Heaver.

The family would like to thank her caregivers Pam Kollat, Mary Fennell, and Laura Damko.
