Waldean K. Thorndell

Younstown: There will be graveside services on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 5400 Market Street, Boardman for Waldean K. Thorndell, 89, formerly of Adeer Drive, Canfield, who died Saturday morning, September 7, 2013 at her residence at Park Vista Retirement Community.

Waldean was born November 18, 1924 in Youngstown, the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Kayati) Koran. She graduated from South High School and lived in the Youngstown area her entire life.

She was a homemaker and previously worked in the Accounting Department at Aetna Standard Engineering.

Waldean was a member of Christ Church Presbyterian, where was a charter member of the Women's Organization, a member of the Red Hatters, a former board member of the Monday Musical Club, Youngstown and a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

Her husband of 62 years, Frank E. Thorndell whom she married on February 22, 1946, died July 6, 2008.

Waldean is survived by a daughter Barbara A. Thorndell of Harrison, Maine, a brother Frank D. Koran of Saint Simons Island, Georgia, two grandchildren; Davin Thorndell and Raiden Thorndell, a niece JoLynn Kelty of Akron and five nephews; Douglas Pezzuto, Jon Koran, David Koran, William Koran and Walter Koran, all from Georgia.

Besides her parents and husband, Waldean was preceded in death by a son Reverend Richard A. Thorndell and a sister Dorothy K. Pezzuto.
