Ruby G. (Ratliff) Wine

Youngstown – Ruby G. Wine, 88, of Youngstown, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2025.

She was born July 7, 1936 in Napier, West Viriginia, the daughter of the late Claude H. and Lucy (Allen) Ratliff and moved to the Youngstown area in 1954.

Ruby was a proud homemaker and a true matriarch for her family. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and always made them her top priority. She loved to bake and can vegetables from their garden along with doing crafts and sewing. Ruby also enjoyed listening to country, bluegrass and gospel music and enjoyed attending music festivals with family and friends. 

Ruby was a member of the New Covenant Church of the Nazarene.

Her husband of over 65 years Verdine Lane Wine whom she married October 2, 1954 passed away on December 15, 2019.

She leaves behind to hold onto her memories her daughter Nancy (Dennis) Dunleavy of New Middletown, four beloved grandchildren Jason (Kerri) Wine, Robert (Hannah) Wine, Matthew (Darla) Dunleavy and Rachel Dunleavy, her six great grandchildren whom she adored Leah, Tara and Kayla Wine, Liam Gunkelman, Jack Wine and Hope Dunleavy and her beloved dog Charlie along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Besides her parents and husband, Ruby was preceded in death by her son David Lee Wine, her infant grandson Daniel Wine, a brother Harold Ratliff and two sisters Erless M. Conley and Minnie B. Conrad

There will be a private celebration of life held with Ruby’s family at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Thompson Filicky Funeral Home, 4221 Market St., Boardman.
