Jean S. Berau, 89

Boardman: There will be funeral services on Friday, December 26, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Thompson-Filicky Funeral Home, 4221 Market Street, Boardman for Jean Shirley Berau, 89, who died Sunday morning, December 21, 2014 at Sunrise of Poland with her family by her side.

Jean was born July 15, 1925 in Akron, the daughter of the late Robert E. and Helen L. (Hummel) Wentworth.

She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, Class of 1943. After high school, Jean became a stewardess for Pennsylvania Central Airlines, for 2 years. She went to Columbus School of Nursing and graduated as an LPN. She worked for Dr. Burke in Columbus for 23 years, retiring in 1985. She returned to the Youngstown area in 1986.

She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Ne-Hts Chapter, Akron, Ohio. Jean was a volunteer for Westwood Rehabilitation Health Center, Beeghley Medical Park, and Shepherd of the Valley.

Jean is survived by a sister, Joan L. Johnson of Poland and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 13 years, Edwin W. Berau whom she married on February 26, 1947, died April 22, 1960 and her brother E. Dean Stoner.

There are no calling hours.
