Youngstown: Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 2, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home, 4221 Market Street, Boardman for James Nathan Codner, 54, who died suddenly Sunday morning, July 28, 2013 at Saint Elizabeth Health Center.
Jim was born January 21, 1959 in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of James N. and Sally A. (Valentine) Codner, Sr. He lived in the Youngstown area and attended Boardman High School.
He was a veteran, serving 13 years in the Navy.
Jim was a Transportation Specialist for PGT Trucking Company for 25 years, where he was a Two Million Mile Accident Free Driver.
He loved football and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He enjoyed IndyCar racing and dirt track racing. He loved to cook and especially, spending time with his family.
Jim is survived by his mother, Sally A. Codner of New Middletown, his wife of 24 years, the former Lisa L. Monske, whom he married on April 22, 1990, a son James N. (fiancAC. Tara M. Baber) Codner, III of Boardman, stepchildren: Derek (Jenn) Ciapala of Cincinnati, Dianna (Jon) Schock of Bortineau, North Dakota, sisters; Adonna Codner of New Middletown, Gay (Gary) Jamison of Poland, Jamette Nelson of Midland,Michigan, brothers; John (Donna Thompson) Codner of Poland, Robert (Janette) Codner of Fort Worth, Texas, whom he considered his best friend, Michael (Chris) Codner of Columbus, 2 grandchildren; Karly Codner and Anthony Codner and 10 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; James N. Codner, Sr., a sister Irene Moyer and brother-in-law Henry Nelson.
