Parma: There will be funeral services on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. at Lux Memorial Chapel, 1551 E. Grove Aveunue, Rantoul, Illinois with the Reverend Jeffrey Greene officiating for Eleanor Anna Marsh, 95, who died on Friday, August 3, 2012 at Pleasantview Nursing Home in Parma, Ohio.
She was born April 1, 1917 in Girard, Ohio, the daughter of the late James C. and Anna (Bender) McMichael.
Eleanor graduated from South High School in Youngstown and was a sales clerk with Strouss-Hirshberg Department Store in Downtown Youngstown for over 30 years. During the war, Eleanor worked at General Fireproofing, building water tanks for battleships.
She moved to Ludlow, Illinois in 1978 and returned to the Youngstown area in 1994. In 2010, she moved to Parma, Ohio to be with her son and his family.
Eleanor was the oldest living member of the John Knox Presbyterian Church in Youngstown and attended the American Lutheran Church in her years in Ludlow, Illinois. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Miriam Chapter, Youngstown.
Her husband, Charles James Marsh, whom she married on December 9, 1939, died, November 28, 1980.
Eleanor is survived by a son Gary J. (Julie) Marsh of Brecksville, Ohio, four grandchildren; Jamie Marsh, Heather Willms, Holly Fuoss and Heidi Kurtz; eight great grandchildren; Kyle, Karlie, Wyatt, Kelsie, Tye, Katie, Brya, and Liam.
Besides her parents and husband, Eleanor was preceded in death by a sister Vera Whiting.
Family and friends may call on Saturday, August 11, 2012 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Lux Memorial Chapel, Rantoul, Illinois.
