Columbiana: A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 119 Stadium Drive, Boardman for Clyde Carson Billings, known as "Bud", who passed away peacefully Sunday morning at St. Mary's Alzheimer's Center. Bud was born September 16, 1936 in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of the late William and Margaret (Weaver) Billings.
After graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School, Bud attended Muskingum College and Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. Bud was an associate pastor at Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh, Pa. for a short time before going to Bowling Green State University as a Chaplin, here he received his Master's degree in psychology. He went to Kent State University, where he earned a Master's degree in sociology. He went to Hiram College to teach sociology before going to Rutgers University for his doctorate degree.
Bud spent the past 30 years on Fells Point in Baltimore where the state of Maryland hired him as the construction engineer for the rehabilitation of the row houses. He loved the history in this area as well of the Chesapeake Bay and the Wharf area.
He served as Master Counselor of Youngstown DeMolay and received his Chevalier Degree. He was a member of the Retired Teachers Association of Baltimore.
Bud leaves to cherish his memory a brother William (Betty) Billings of Daytona, Florida, a sister Sally (William) Reedy of Boardman, Ohio, a nephew Trea Reedy and family of Dove Canyon, California, a niece Dr. Kelly Moorhead and family of Copley, Ohio and his beloved dog Erin.
Besides his parents, Bud was preceded in death by a brother Kenneth Billings.
Family and friends may call Wednesday, July 17, 2013 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church chapel, followed by a service at 7:00 p.m.
The family requests that material tributes take the form of contributions to Westminster Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 119 Stadium Drive, Boardman, Ohio 44512 or to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market Street, Boardman, Ohio 44512.
Bud's family wishes to thank the entire staff of St. Mary's Alzheimer's Center, especially the south wing for the outstanding and loving care Bud received over the past three years. They became his family and he was very comfortable there.
