Albert C. Emerick, 77
Youngstown: There will be a Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, February 10, 2018, at 12:00 pm at New Covenant Worship Center, Church of the Nazarene, 1900 Canfield Road in Youngstown with Rev. Jeff Gilkerson, Rev. Michael Byus, and Rev. Richard Stoneburner officiating for Albert C. Emerick, 77, who went to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday evening, February 3, 2018 with his loving family by his side.
Albert, known by his family and friends as “AL” was born September 22, 1940 in Youngstown, the son of the late Homer L. and June P. (Carroll) Emerick.
Al was a truck driver for Easco, which became Indelex in Niles for 18 years, retiring in 2002.
He was a longtime member of New Covenant Worship Center, Church of the Nazarene and attended Greenford Christian Church.
Al was an Army veteran. He was a member of New Middletown Farmers and Sportsman Club. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed walking in Mill Creek Park, especially the Lily Pond. Al was a volunteer for Hospice of the Valley.
Al is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, the former Diane L. Stoneburner, whom he married on June 16, 1962, three children Edward A. (Polly) Emerick of New Middletown, Pamela J. (Kenneth) Duclos of Youngsville, North Carolina and Matthew A. Emerick of Austintown; two sisters, JoAnn (Barry) Claycomb of Austintown, and Debbie Miller of Mineral Ridge; two brothers, George (Marilyn) Emerick of New Springfield and Michael (Nancy) Emerick of Austintown; several nieces and nephews and good friend of the family, Patty Metzler of North Jackson.
Besides his parents, Al was preceded in death by a sister Rose and brother-in-law, Ronald Shanabarger.
Family and friends may call on Saturday, February 10, 2018 from 11 to noon at New Covenant Worship Center, Church of the Nazarene, with services to follow at the church.
Al was a devoted Christian and was dedicated to his loving wife and children He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and his church family. He will be deeply missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that material tributes take the form of contributions to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market Street, Boardman, Ohio 44512-2198 in memory of Al.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Thompson Filicky Funeral Home 4221 Market Street in Boardman.
