William "Bill" D. Parisi, 65
Boardman: There will be funeral services on Friday, June 21, 2013 at 12 noon at Thompson Funeral Home, 4221 Market Street, Boardman for William Dominic Parisi, 65 who died early Monday morning, June 17, 2013 at Saint Elizabeth Boardman Health Center.
Bill was born June 14, 1948 in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of Anthony R. Parisi and Rose M. (Castiglione) Parisi. He graduated from Boardman High School in 1966 and from Youngstown State University in 1999 with a bachelor's degree.
He retired as Master Sergeant William D. Parisi, USAF after 21 years of service, earning the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Achievement Medal, the Organizational Excellence Award with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, the Good Conduct Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Navy Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal, the Oversea Short Tour , the Longevity Service Award Ribbon with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters, the NCO Professional Military Education Graduate Ribbon, the Training Ribbon and Korean Defense Service Medal. He was last stationed at Langley, Virginia
After his retirement from the Air Force, Bill worked for The Mahoning County Board of Disabilities from 1989 to 2008 and was a part-time professor at Youngstown State University for over 14 years, teaching IT.
He was a member of the Mahoning Valley Railroad Heritage Association and Train Collectors Association for several years, Bill wrote articles about trains and railroads for the OGR Publishing Company in Poland and he worked train shows. His hobbies were trains and computers.
Bill is survived by his father Anthony R. (Daryl) Parisi of Boardman, his wife of 43 years, the former Judy Ann Johnston, whom he married on April 4, 1970, two daughters; Kimberly A. Parisi and Christina M. (Harry) Parisi-Bowers, both of Boardman, three brothers; Gregory F. (Noelle) Parisi of Oakland Park, Florida, Fred M. (Mary) Michael of Margate, Florida and William E.K. (Maryann) Pusser of Youngstown, two grandchildren; Alyssa M. Pflug and Zachary A. Pflug, both of Boardman and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his Mother, Rose M. Michael.
Family and friends may call on Thursday, June 20, 2013 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home and from 11:00 to 12 noon on Friday at the funeral home.
A military service will follow the funeral service on Friday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Boardman.
The family requests that material tributes take the form of contributions to the Mahoning Valley Railroad Heritage Association, P.O. Box 3055, Youngstown, Ohio 44511 in memory of Bill.
