William E. Barnett, 90
Austintown: There will be funeral services on Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at 11 a.m., at Thompson-Filicky Funeral Home, 4221 Market Street with Pastor Neil Appell officiating for William "Bill" E. Barnett, 90, formerly of S. Raccoon Road, who died Friday morning, June 17, 2016 surrounded by his family and close friends at Humility House in Austintown.
Bill was born October 16, 1925, in Youngstown, the son of the late Wesley and Mary Elizabeth (Gilbert) Barnett.
He attended South High School until he joined the Navy and served in World War II. Upon his arrival home, he worked for Ohio Edison for 33 years. Bill was a lifelong area resident. He enjoyed fishing and was a fan of the Cleveland Indians and the Cleveland Browns.
Bill is survived by his four children, Dennis Barnett of Youngstown, David W. Barnett, Dottie (Pete) Kolaskos and Bill (Amie) Barnett, all from Austintown; six grandchildren, Chris Kolaskos, of Venice Beach, Ca., Angie (Ron) Blinsky of Poland, Michelle Kolaskos and fiancé Donnie (Loveless) of Poland, Chuckie Barnett of Austintown, Tony Barden and Jeff Barden of Indianapolis, Indiana; five great-grandchildren who he adored; Jacob, Ava, Aubrey, Ali, and Evan.
Besides his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Margaret (Peggy) Barnett, who died November 5, 2011, a step-daughter, Peggy Ann Barden; a brother, Gilbert Barnett; and two sisters Ella Jane Vaughn and Joanne Planton.
Family and friends may call on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Thompson-Filicky Funeral Home. .
The family requests that material tributes take the form of contributions to Humility House, 755 Ohltown Road, Austintown, Ohio 44515; or Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market Street, Youngstown, Ohio 44512 in memory of Bill.
The family would like to thank the staff at Humility House in Austintown and Hospice of the Valley for their wonderful care, love and support.
