Virginia R. Sheridan Boardman: It is with deep sadness that the loving family of Virginia Rose Sheridan, 85, Boardman, announce her passing January 13, 2016. Born on September 5, 1930 to Charles and Mabel (McDowell) Walters in Youngstown, she was a graduate of South High School in 1948. She married Frank Sheridan on March 19, 1949 at Indianola Methodist Church in Youngstown. He preceded her in death on January 23, 1975. Also preceding her in death were her parents, one daughter, Cindy, and two sisters, Dorothy Walters and Kathryn Walters and a brother, William Walters. Surviving are seven children: five daughters, Frances (Charles) Stroemer, Pekin, IL; Greta (Frank) Vitko, Dallas, TX; Bette Sheridan, Rockville, MD; Sherri (Robert) Gearhart, Johnstown, OH; and Jennifer (Stacey) Rodgers, Marietta, GA; along with two sons, Brian Sheridan, Boardman, OH and Keith (Kathy) Sheridan, Marietta, GA. Also surviving are eight grandchildren: Amy (James) Hess, Bloomington, IL; Michael (Kayla) Vitko, Prosper, TX; Lisa (Justin) Keck, Nevada, TX; Scott Sheridan, Marietta, GA, Paige Sheridan, Marietta, GA; Clayton Gearhart, Johnstown, OH; Kaden Rodgers, Marietta, GA; and Kenley Rodgers, Marietta, GA. Surviving also are seven great grandchildren: Alex and Ella Hess, Bloomington, IL; Tyler and Shelby Keck, Nevada, TX; and Fischer, Grayson, and Ryder Vitko, Prosper, TX. A member of Good Hope Lutheran Church in Boardman, she loved to read and was an avid Browns fan. A beloved mother, she devoted her whole life to raising her children. She raised six of the children by herself after the death of her husband. Happy memories are never forgotten and the love that she gave so willingly to her family will live in their hearts forever. A service will be held honoring Virginia on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Good Hope Lutheran Church, 98 Homestead Drive, Youngstown, Ohio 44512. Friends may visit with the family in the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will be at Tod Homestead Cemetery.
