Verne A. Hamilton

Youngstown: Private services were held for Verne Arguile Hamilton, 78, who died Friday evening, May 18, 2012 at Hospice of the Valley, Poland.

She was born October 20, 1933 in Tucson, Arizona, the daughter of the late Dr. Vern A. and Myrtle (Pennell) Neel. Verne graduated from Chaney High School in 1951 and attended San Diego State College and Youngstown State University.

Verne worked at Maag Library at YSU, retiring in 1996 and had previous worked at the Youngstown Main Library for several years and at Strouss Department Store in downtown Youngstown.

She was a volunteer at the D.D. Davis Library at Fellows Riverside Garden in Mill Creek Park, enjoyed practicing Yoga and Tai Chi, loved cats and was an avid gardener.

Verne is survived by her son Douglas N. Hamilton of Florida and Medan, Indonesia..

Besides her parents, Verne was preceded in death by a brother Richard Neel.

There are no calling hours.

The family requests that material tributes take the form of contributions to Fellows Riverside Gardens Memorial Fund, 123 McKinley Avenue, Youngstown, Ohio 44509 in memory of Verne.

Arrangements are being handled by Thompson Funeral Home, 4221 Market Street, Boardman.
