Verle Glenn Crago Youngstown: Dr. V. Glenn "Red" Crago passed away December 4, 2011 at the age of 92 while in residency at Park Vista Retirement facility. He joins his beloved wife Ruth (Fisher) Crago and daughter Judy in their eternal home with our heavenly father. A former resident of Boardman, he was born in Bainbridge, OH on April 12, 1919, the son of the late Wilbur T. and Martha (Herman) Crago. Glenn met his future bride of 61 years while in high school. He will be deeply missed by his 4 children (Mrs. Ruth Crago Palmer, Dr. Thomas Crago, Mrs. Virginia Crago Black and Mr. David Crago), 12 grandchildren (Scott Barnett, Allison Hrip, Ryan Barnett, Aimee Hromadka, Summer Black, Renee Wilson, Tiffany Black, Amber Crago, Ashley Cook, Andrew Crago, Darien Crago, Olivia Crago) and 12 great grandchildren (Megan and Max Barnett, Lexie, Zachary and Josh Hrip, Isabella Barnett, Madelyn and Katja Hromadka, Isaac and Asher Wilson, Owen and Elena Cook). Dr. Crago had 8 brothers and sisters, including the late Dr. Verne Crago, Dr. Charles Crago, Mrs. Aura Burroughs, Mrs. Daisy Yaxley, Mr. Merle Crago and Mrs. Hazel Hagen. He is survived by his sister Martha Lommler of Longwood, FL and brother, Dr. W. Bill Crago of Sebring, OH. Dr. Crago was a 1942 graduate of The Ohio State University, College of Veterinary Medicine. He began his career treating large animals in Kinsman, OH, then moved to Youngstown where he opened his clinic and cared for small animals from 1945 to his retirement in 2000. An innovative businessman and veterinarian, Dr. Crago was a past president of the American Animal Hospital Association and remained active in many animal care associations. He and his wife were long time members of John Knox Presbyterian Church in Youngtown. Glenn enjoyed organizing and experiencing many summer Canadian fishing trips, along with traveling with his wife. Family and friends will fondly remember his sense of humor, practical jokes and his ability to fix nearly anything that came his way. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at 12:00 noon at John Knox Presbyterian Church, 1806 Market Street, Youngstown, where friends may call from 10:30AM to 12:00 noon at the church. The family wishes to extend their appreciation to the staff and aides at Park Vista and Senior Independence for their concern and care. Arrangements are being handled by Thompson Funeral Home, 4221 Market Street, Boardman.
