Robert H. Johnston
Boardman: October 5th 2013 is the day that the Lord called home his faithful servant Robert Henry Johnston after 91 years of service. He was a dedicated husband of 52 years to Eleanor Jane Judy (deceased 01/31/2002), father to his four children... Judy A. Parisi, Bobbie J. (Attorney Ron) Knickerbocker, both of Boardman, Susan J. (Larry) Lide of Edmond, Oklahoma, and a son Chuck H. (fiancAC., April Smith) of Greenville, Pennsylvania. He also leaves 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He is survived by a brother, James J. (Nancy) Johnston of Napoleon, Ohio, a brother-in-law Clayton Cody of Lakeland, Florida, a sister-in-law, Jean Judy of Austintown and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, Henry N. and Pearle Nellie (Brakeman) Johnston, a son-in-law William Parisi, a brother Lewis and his wife Marjorie Johnston, two sisters; Patricia Cline and Marianne Cody, and brother-in-law Richard Judy.
He graduated from South High School in 1940 and was a life long resident of the Youngstown area. He was a Mason of the Wick Lodge No. 481 F & A.M. He was a humble veteran of WW II serving in the Army, worked for over 50 years as a Parts Manager for various Ford Dealerships in the area, retiring in 2001 at the tender age of 79. His second love was his church, John Knox Presbyterian, where he served faithfully as an Elder, Sunday School teacher and member of the Choir.
Family and friends may call on Thursday, October 10, 2013 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home, 4221 Market Street, Boardman. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 11, 2013 at John Knox Presbyterian Church, 1806 Market Street, Youngstown where calling hours will be one hour prior the services.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that material tributes take the form of contributions to Meals on Wheels, 1806 Market Street, Youngstown, Ohio 44507 or to The Scleroderma Foundation, 300 Rosewood Drive, Suite 105 Davies, MA. 01923 in memory of Eleanor Johnston.
