Robert James Brink Sr. New Middletown: There will be a memorial service on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at Simon Road Church of God, 4750 Simon Road, Boardman for Robert James Brink Sr.,78, who died Monday evening, October 8, 2012 at The Cleveland Clinic, surrounded by his family. He was born on July 12, 1934 in Kittanning, Pennsylvania, the son of the late James and Ruby (Berline) Brink. Robert graduated from Kittanning High School, Pa., where he participated in baseball, basketball, and football. He attended Youngstown State University. Robert worked at Youngstown Sheet and Tube for over 19 years, where he became a supervisor, retiring in 1974. He was a very active member of the Simon Road Church of God, where he taught Sunday School for over 40 years, served as chairman of Board of Trustees, and served as the Vice Chairman of Church. Robert served on the Executive Council for the Northeast Ohio Church of God and on the Board of Properties, Retreat Centers for Northeast Ohio District. He was a member of the New Springfield Athletic Boosters and in charge of concessions. Robert was an avid hunter, fisherman, a Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed spending time with his family. Robert is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lucille Harriett Clever whom he married on February 3, 1952 , and his children Rev. Dr. Robert J. (Deborah) Brink of Decatur, Indiana, Paula S. (Rev. Gregory) Oesch of Jessup, Maryland, Steven D. (Kathy) Brink of Hillsborough, North Carolina, Cynthia K. (Bruce) Sears of New Middletown, Richard S. (Susan) Brink of Poland, David Lee (Sarah) Brink of Newark, Jeffrey T. (Brenda) Brink of Streetsboro; 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Besides his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his brother Paul K. Kerr, 2 grandsons, and 2 great grandsons. Family and Friends may call on Thursday, October 11, 2012 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Simon Road Church of God, Boardman. The family requests that material tributes take form of contributions to Simon Road Church of God Memorial Fund, 4750 Simon Road, Boardman, Ohio 44512.
