Regis Edward Hack
BOARDMAN - There will be funeral services on Sunday August 7, 2011, at 7 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home, 4221 Market Street in Boardman for Regis Edward Hack, 88, who died Friday, August 5, 2011, at the Greenbrier Regency Nursing Home in Boardman.
He was born November 16, 1922, in Pittsburgh, the son of the late Jacob G. Hack and Mary Bridget Flannigan Hack.
Regis lived several years in the St Joseph Orphanage in Pittsburgh after his mother died at an early age. Regis moved to Youngstown after his father remarried. He graduated from Chaney High School in 1941 and entered the United States Army in 1943. The Army sent him to Louisiana State University (LSU) to study engineering. In 1944 he was transferred to the Army's 394th Infantry Regiment of the 99th Division. He saw action at the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded three bronze stars.
He graduated from Youngstown College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a major in accounting.
For many years he had an accounting office in the Home Savings & Loan building in downtown Youngstown. He moved his office to the west side when he and his partner Robert Himes formed the accounting firm Himes & Hack.
Regis was a member of St. Charles Church in Boardman.
He is survived by his sister Dorothy Tranovich of Austintown and five children, Karen Sue Hack of Youngstown, Roger E. (Darlene) Hack of Salem, Russell K. Hack of Cleveland, Richard J. (Kathleen) Hack of Sacramento, Calif. And Robert B. (Lynn) Hack of North Lima; and four grandsons, Ryan E Hack of Orlando, Jeffrey A Hack of Columbus, Kevin P Hack of Sacramento, and Marc R Hack of North Lima.
Besides his parents, Regis was preceded in death by his step-mother Florence Hack, a brother, Phillip Hack, a sister Anna Marie Borrelli and his beloved wife Gloria M Hack who died on July 23, 2011.
Friends may call on Sunday, August 7, 2011, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home in Boardman.
The family requests that material tributes take the form of contributions to Youngstown State University for accounting majors Williamson College of Business Administration One University Plaza, Youngstown, OH 44555.
Arrangements are being handled by the Thompson Funeral Home, 4221 Market St. in Boardman .
