Nick Levinsky

YOUNGSTOWN - Nick Charles Levinsky Sr., 70, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2026.

He was born March 29, 1956, in Youngstown, Ohio, to parents Nick and Virginia Levinsky. He graduated from Cardinal Mooney High School in 1974. He then began working undercover for the Youngstown Police Department for several years. He transitioned to a 29-year career with the Boardman Police Department as a patrolman, starting in 1979, while finishing his bachelor’s degree at Youngstown State University. During his tenure at the Boardman Police Department, he served as Sniper Team Leader for the Mahoning Valley Violent Crimes Task Force. He was promoted to Sergeant and assisted with the development of the Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS). He also served as a Detective during the latter portion of his policing career, which finally concluded in 2007.

Perhaps an even greater part of his identity, and what he often referred to as his “second full-time job,” was that of a master woodworker specializing in fine furniture and custom cabinetry, locally renowned through his business, Mill Creek Woods Custom Furniture. He was known for his Shaker-style furniture, high-end finishing, and the extraordinary dedication and work ethic he brought to each piece. He was truly proud to have brought so many families together around holiday meals served upon his beautiful heirloom dining room sets.

Nick was preceded in death by his father, who passed away in 1965, when Nick Sr. was just 9 years old; his mother, who passed away in 2002; and his stepfather, Charles Summers, who passed away in 2006. He is survived by his eldest son, Nick Charles Levinsky Jr., MD, and daughters Amy Levinsky, DVM, and Abbey Levinsky.

Nick Sr. found joy in fishing, boating, and completing numerous projects around the house. He had also earned his licks as a one-time amateur rodeo bull rider and had been a known character in the local Harley-Davidson riders’ community.

The family would like to thank Chrissy Bode, his long-term girlfriend, for all of the care and support she provided for Nick Sr., especially during his last year. The family would also like to thank the Cleveland Clinic Hospice for all their care and compassion during this difficult transition. 

A private ceremony to honor Nick Levinsky Sr. will be held in the near future.
