Minnie B. Smeltzer

Girard: There will be a funeral services on Friday, Jan. 22, 2016 at 1 p.m. at Thompson-Filicky Funeral Home, 4221 Market Street, for Minnie B. Smeltzer, 84, formerly of Youngstown, who died suddenly, Sunday evening, January 17, 2016 at ValleyCare Northside Medical Center with her family by her side.

Minnie was born February 13, 1931 in Ford City, Pa., the daughter of the late Thomas and Nettie Smith. She moved to the Youngstown area 61 years ago.

Minnie is survived by her children, Thomas C. (Norma Jean) Smeltzer of Kittaning, PA, John J. (Ethel ) Smeltzer of Girard, William R. Smeltzer of Liberty, Andrew J. (Edith) Smeltzer of Youngstown, Susan D. (Doug) Sefner of North Carolina, Jack A. (Ruth) Smeltzer Youngstown, Henry L. Smeltzer of North Carolina, Judy A. Smeltzer of Campbell, Andrea J. (Earl) Moss of Youngstown, Anna Arnio of Youngstown; a brother John Smith of North Carolina, 39 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.

Besides her parents, Minnie was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Andrew C. Smeltzer, whom she married on October 16, 1948, died February 23, 1999; a son, Nick Smeltzer; daughter-in-law, Linda Smeltzer; 2 brothers, Dick Smith and June Smith; and 2 sisters, Mary Campbell and Rosie Anderson.

Family and friends may call on Friday, Jan. 22, 2016 from noon to 1 p.m. at Thompson-Filicky Funeral Home, follow by a funeral service.
