Mildred Elizabeth Reed, 93 Youngstown: Mildred E. Reed passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2014 at Park Vista. She was born in Uniontown, Pa on April 1, 1921 to her parents, Orville Charles and Elizabeth Melvina (Scott) Spindler. Mildred graduated from Uniontown High School, Class of 1939. While in high school, Mildred worked several jobs to help support her family. Mildred's first job, after graduation, was as a Typist for the United States government in Washington, D.C. She later moved to Petersburg, Va where she worked as a Secretary at the Army Base Motor Pool. Mildred married Samuel W. Reed, Jr. on June 14, 1942 at the Bethel Church of the Brethren in Farmington, Pa. and together they had two children and shared 64 years of marriage until his passing on December 1, 2006. She was a homemaker. She loved playing cards and vacationing with her family. Mildred is survived by her children: Bryan K. (Traudi) Reed of Canfield, Joy B. (Daryl) Bogus of Costa Rica; grandchildren: Vicki R. (Chad) Reed, Robert B. (Jessica) Reed, Benjamin J. Bogus, Matthew P. Bogus, Timothy J. Bogus and Anna C. (Erik) Miller; great grandchildren Charles B. Miller, Halina S. Michener and Taryn A. Michener. She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband; a sister Gladys Clyeda Todd and two brothers Kenneth Spindler, Glen Spindler. There are no calling hours. Interment will be held at the Bethel Church of the Brethren Memorial Park and Cemetery in Farmington, Pa. The family requests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market Street, Youngstown, OH 44512.
