Obituary

Merlin E. Conner, Jr. Boardman: There will be funeral services on Tuesday, December16, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Thompson~Filicky Funeral Home, 4221 Market Street, Boardman for Merlin Earl Conner Jr.,73 who died Friday afternoon, December 12, 2014 at Saint Elizabeth Health Center with his family by his side. Merlin was born on January 1, 1941 in Lansing, Michigan, the son of the late Merlin E. and Blanche W. (Wilkinson) Conner. Sr. He was raised in Dallas, Texas moved to Ohio and then to the Youngstown area in 1968. He graduated from Buchtel High School in Akron and attended Akron University. Merlin was employed at Truscon Steel Company in Youngstown for over 13 years and then at InfoCision Call Center in Austintown for 13 years, working in their customer service department. . He was a member of the Highway Tabernacle Church, Austintown. Merlin is survived by his wife of 53 years, Donna L. (Milam), whom he married on September 2, 1961; three children, David (Stacey) Conner of Chattanooga, TN, Sandra L. (Harry) Smith of Philadelphia, Pa, Michael C. (Christie) Conner of Boardman; three sisters, Jeanne Cummings of Akron, Rae Green of Elkhart, IN, Earlean Smith of Indianapolis, IN; 11 grandchildren Ashley Conner , Ryan Conner, Nathan Conner and Joshua Conner, Josiah Smith, Carly Smith, Adam Smith and Bryan Smith and Caitlynn Conner, Chase Conner and Brady Conner; and a great grandson, Alexander Smith Family and friends may call on Monday, December 15, 2014 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Thompson~Filicky Funeral Home and on Tuesday, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
