Maureen Ann Phelan-Lowry, 39 White Salmon, Washington: Maureen Ann Phelan-Lowry, 39, formerly of Boardman passed away from cancer on April 7, 2013 peacefully at her home with her husband Chris and her sister Katie at her side. She was born October 24, 1973 in Youngstown, the daughter of Joseph and Jane Ann (Buckon) Phelan. Maureen graduated from Boardman High School in 1992 and then from Youngstown State University in 1997. Over Maureen's short life, she lived and worked in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Oregon, California, Alaska and Washington. She said, one of her best experiences was working for Outward Bound from 2000 until 2007. After her and Chris settled in Washington, she worked creating an after-school environmental education program at the Mill A Elementary School and was a Yoga Instructor at Samadhi Yoga. She was also hired as an educational advisor during the recent removal of the Conduit Dam from the White Salmon River. Maureen is survived by her father Joseph J. Phelan of Youngstown, her husband, Christopher Lowry whom she married on September 30, 2006, a sister Katie (Ricky) Lewin of Cleveland Heights, a brother Joseph Phelan of Campbell, her Aunts and Uncle: Mary Catherine Kolp of Aurora, Col. and Mrs. William Buckon of Virginia, Mrs. Rita Buckon of Cleveland and many cousins and friends. Memorial services were held in White Salmon, Washington on May 3, 2013 at Gardner Funeral Home, celebrated by Rev. Clyde Sanda of Heart of Hospice and a second service was held in Porterville, Pa at McConnell's Mill State Park on August 4, 2013. Please visit www.thompsonfh1932.com to view this notice.
