Matthew Robert Kerester, 33

Warren: Matthew Robert Kerester, 33, died Thursday, May 16, 2013, at Cleveland Clinic Hospital, Cleveland, Ohio.

Matthew was born September 26, 1979 in Youngstown, the son of Norman Paul Kerester, Jr. (Struthers) and Darlene Ann Vincent Kerester (Niles).

At the age of three, Matthew was diagnosed with adrenaleukodystrophy, and was studied and treated by teams of specialist at Pittsburgh Children's Rainbow Hospital much of his youth, undergoing experimental use of medications and therapies leading to longer, fuller lives for himself and others afflicted with the disease.

A graduate of Struthers High School in 1998, he was employed at Wal-Mart, Valu City, Polaris and Infocision in the Youngstown-Boardman area.

Matthew was a ravenous reader of fantasy-adventure, anime and bestseller fiction, enjoyed playing RPG video games and was very involved in his teen years at The Youngstown Playhouse Youth Theater, where he acted, worked crew and served as a member of the Playhouse Youth Board.

He is survived by his mother and father, step-mother Darlene Eusanio Kerester (Struthers), sister Nicole (Struthers) and Elizabeth (Niles), brother Patrick (Pittsburgh), grandmother Dorathe Kerester (Hubbard) and uncles David Kerester (Hubbard) and Robert Vincent (Plantation, Florida).

Matthew was preceded in death by his grandfather Norman P. Kerester, Sr., grandparents Earl and Betty Vincent and uncle James.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home, 4221 Market Street, Boardman. Family and friends may call from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
