Boardman: Marjorie Ann Sitting, 73, was born in Youngstown, on June 23, 1939, the daughter of Harold W. and Mary E. (Smith) Sittig, died suddenly on Sunday, September 30, 2012.
She graduated from Boardman High School in 1957 and attended Muskingham College. She worked at Schwebels Bakery in Austintown. In July, 1997, she graduated from Youngstown State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. She was a substitute teacher in Mahoning County for over 15 years, retiring in 2012. She was a lifetime resident of Boardman.
Marjorie was an active member of Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Deacon, Elder, choir member and Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of the hospitality program, served on the personnel committee, and she wrote articles for the church newsletter. Marjorie was a volunteer at the Beatitude House and was a member and supporter of the Youngstown Playhouse. She loved traveling, gardening, writing and reading.
She is survived by her three daughters; Cheryl L. (Bryan) Send of Suttons Bay, Michigan, Wendy L. (Scott) Samford and Kristin L. Dota, both of Boardman, 5 grandchildren; Jason E. (Carolyn) Hudak, Jocelyn E. Hudak, Adeline M. Carothers, Joseph W. Carothers and Antoinette E. Dota , 6 step-grandchildren; Joseph (Nikki) Send, Christopher Send, Samuel Send, Jessica Wolfe, Sarannah B. Samford, and Evan S. Samford, and a step-great grandson; Jacob Gideon.
Besides her parents, Marjorie was preceded in death by her sister Barbara Jean Sittig.
Family and friends may call on Thursday, October 4, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home, Boardman and on Friday, October 5, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church, 3919 Southern Boulevard, funeral service to follow at 11 a.m.
The family requests that material tributes take the form of contributions to The Youngstown Playhouse, 600 Playhouse Lane, Youngstown, Ohio 44511 in memory of Marjorie.
