Joseph W. Loree Sr., 83 Canfield: There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at 10:00 am at St. Christine's Catholic Church, 3165 S. Schenley Avenue, Youngstown, for Joseph W. Loree Sr., who passed peacefully early Thursday morning, March 3, 2016, with his family by his side. Joseph was a member of St. Christine's Catholic Church. Joseph, the son of Louis and Agnes (Bannon) Loree, was born on December 27, 1932 in Youngstown, Ohio. Joseph attended St. Dominic's Catholic Elementary School. He graduated from South High School in 1951. After graduation, Joseph found employment with the B&O Railroad. He then worked for McKay Machines for 15 years. Joseph always desired to own his own business. In the early 1970's, he purchased a Cornersburg Pizza Franchise, located in Alliance, Ohio, which was he and his family's favorite, local pizza. After two years, Joseph had the dream of creating his own business. In 1972, Joseph and his wife, the late Rose Marie (Marciella) Loree, along with his three sons, Joseph William, Timothy James, and Robert Lewis, decided to strike out on their own. Beginning with an old gas station at the corner of Rt. 46 and Mahoning Avenue, the first Sandwich Factory Incorporated was established. With his persistent work ethic and dream of expanding his business, he and his family opened the second Sandwich Factory in Boardman, Ohio in 1975, His youngest son, Robert Lewis, has successfully operated this location since its inception. Joseph was a hands-on business owner, never missing a day of work. As the business became more successful, so did Joseph's desire to further develop his business to include The Sandwich Factory Franchise System, The Loree Group, and JOTIMBO. Joseph always expressed his appreciation to his business associates and employees for their loyalty. Joseph was proud that his 3 sons, 2 daughters-in-law, and 6 grandchildren all worked at the business. Joseph was an avid supporter of his community. He sponsored the Sandwich Factory Boys and Girls Golf League at the Mill Creek Par 3 Golf Course for 35 years. He was the President of the Mill City Pony League for 5 years in the early 1970's. He played the clarinet and was a competitive bowler, playing on several leagues. He enjoyed traveling and visited Italy with his late brother in law, Herbert Campbell. He and "Uncle Bert" had condominiums next to each other in Pensacola Beach, Florida. He enjoyed regularly visiting Las Vegas and Atlantic City; the slot machines were his favorite. Joseph was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Rose Marie (Marciella) Loree. Joseph is survived by his brother, Ronald C. Loree of Boardman. He is survived by his three sons: Joseph William (Patrice) Loree Jr. of Poland, Timothy James Loree of Boardman, and Robert Lewis (Victoria) Loree of Boardman; 7 grandchildren; Jason (Abbey) Loree, Richard Loree, Michelle Loree, Gerald Ludt, Aimee Loree, Christine (Joseph) Frigone and Joseph Robert Loree; and 1 great grandchild, Leo Joseph Loree. He will be sadly missed by his first cousin, Judge Charles J. Bannon, whom he was raised with. The family would like to express a sincere and heart felt thank you to Dr. Gerald Mihok for his support, guidance and love.
