Obituary

Joseph George Kral Campbell: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph the Provider Church, 633 Porter Avenue, Campbell, for Joseph George Kral, 80, who passed away on Sunday morning, July 24, 2011 at Hospice House. Joe was born February 24, 1931, in Youngstown, a son of John Joseph and Helen Marie (Gonda) Kral. He was raised in Youngstown and moved to Campbell in 1978. A 1949 graduate of East High School, he honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and also honorably served in the U.S. Navy. He worked for the Fitzsimons Steel Company in Youngstown, retiring after 30 years. Joe attended Youngstown State University. He was a lifelong member of St. Elizabeth Church until its closing in January, 2011. Joe was a world adventurer, having visited 40 countries, 40 states, and 3 oceans over his lifetime. He was an avid reader, talented artist, and loved wildlife. Joe was very proud of his children and grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. He leaves his loving wife, the former Monina (Nina) Pollaruste, whom he met during his world travels and married on May 14, 1970; his two daughters Helen Saare and her husband Leroy, Jr. of Niles and Valerie Dill and her husband Dustin of Campbell; his three granddaughters, Nina, Lena, and Ella Dill, who affectionately called him Papabear; his brother Jerome Kral of Youngstown, his two sisters, Katherine (Kay) Meyers of Struthers and Anastasia (Stasia) Filicky and her husband Andy of Boardman; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Mary Chismar; their two infant daughters, Nancy Kral and Tammy Kral; one brother John Kral, Jr., and two sisters Mary Kral and Patricia Kral. Friends will be received on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home, 4221 Market Street, Boardman and from 9 to 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at St. Joseph The Provider Church, Campbell. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
