Johnnie Mae (Johnstone) Schneider, 86
North Lima: There will be funeral services on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 11 am at Good Hope Lutheran Church, 12030 Market Street in North Lima with Pastor Ralph Edwards officiating for Johnnie Mae (Johnstone) Schneider, 86, who passed away Tuesday evening, October 16, 2018 with her family by her side.
Johnnie was born August 1, 1932 in Waynesboro, Mississippi, the daughter of the late Lee Roy and Georgia Mae (Horton) Dykes, Sr.
She moved to the Youngstown area in the late 1950's. Johnnie worked as a nurse aide for Little Forest Medical Center in Boardman for over 20 years and was a homemaker.
Johnnie was a member of the V.F.W. Post 3307 Ladies Auxiliary in Youngstown. She loved going to auctions and garage sales and was an avid collector of angels.
Johnnie is survived by her husband of 31 years, Jack Schneider, whom she married on August 14, 1987; four children, James L. (Eva) Carr of Waynesboro, Mississippi, Tammy L. (Anthony) Ciavarella of Boardman, Laurie L. Leonelli of North Lima and William (Angie McQuilin) Johnstone, Jr. of Youngstown; three step-children, Tammy L. (John) Chuey of North Lima, Marsha (Rick) Waldele and David A. Schneider, both of Poland; three brothers, Jerry (Carolyn) Dykes of Waynesboro, Mississippi, Lee Roy (Sylvia) Dykes, Jr. of Brookhaven, Mississippi and Gary (Linda) Dykes of Waynesboro, Mississippi; two sisters, Helen Brown of Waynesboro, Mississippi and Betty Abrell of Destin, Florida; 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Johnnie was preceded in death by her first husband of 26 years, William Johnstone whom she married on April 9, 1960, died February 24, 1986, a step-son, John G. Schneider; and three brothers, George Dykes, Troy Dykes, and William Dykes.
Family and friends may call on Friday, October 19, 2018 from 6 to 8 pm at Thompson Filicky Funeral Home, 4221 Market Street in Boardman and on Saturday, from 10 to 10:45 am at Good Hope Lutheran Church, 12030 Market Street in North Lima, with funeral service to follow.
