John Raymond Codner, 63, of Poland, passed away on Monday morning, May 20, 2024.

He was born September 14, 1961 in Boardman, the son of James N. and Sally A. (Valentine) Codner and was a lifelong area resident. He attended and graduated Boardman High in 1979.

John's passion for dirt track racing and flagging at Mercer Raceway and Hickory Motor Speedway was only eclipsed by his love of food.

He was a loving companion to his significant other, Donna Thompson, for the past 30 years.

John leaves behind to hold onto his precious memories his brothers and sisters Adonna Codner, Gay (Gary) Jamison, Jamette Nelson, Robert (Jeanette) Codner Sr., and Michael (Chris) Codner, a sister-in-law Lisa Codner, his beloved nieces and nephews Rebecca (Steve) Grice, Amanda Nelson-Wagner, James Codner III, Robert Codner Jr (Brittany), Cindy Brown (Zac), Beth Black and David (Chrissy) Priestley, Stephanie (James) Balderas, Robert Thomas, Stephanie Thomas, Brian Thomas.

Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by a sister Irene Moyer, a brother James Codner Jr., and brother-in-law Albert Nelson.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Thompson Filicky Funeral Home, 4221 Market St., Boardman.
