Jean Louise Jenkins, 87

Boardman: There will be a memorial service on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Boardman United Methodist Church, 6809 Market Street for Jean Louise Jenkins, 87 who died Friday evening, May 24, 2013 at her residence with her family by her side.

Jean was born February 25, 1926 in Lisbon, Ohio, the daughter of the late William S. and Leota B. (Harrold) Morris. She moved to the Youngstown area as a child.

Jean graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1944 and attended Kent State University.

She was a secretary at Woodrow Wilson High School and later at Stambaugh Thompson Hardware in downtown Youngstown. Jean later worked with her husband, Bud at his business, Ryan's Carpet Service for over 15 years, retiring in 1996.

Jean was a member of Boardman United Methodist Church, the Lydia Circle at the church, a member and past president of the United Methodist Women. She was a charter member and past president of the Boardman Lioness Club and was a recipient of Melvin Jones Fellow Award.

Jean is survived by her husband of 63 years, Lloyd "Bud" R. Jenkins, whom she married on August 28, 1949, two daughters; Peggy L. Jenkins of Bedford, Ohio, Bonnie L. (Dennis) Koch of Boardman, 4 nieces, 2 nephews and several great nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Jean was preceded in death by an infant son Robert L. Jenkins, a brother William H. Morris and his wife, Barbara, a sister-in-law Dorothy Webber and husband Glenn.

Family and friends may call on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home, 4221 Market Street, Boardman.

The family requests that material tributes take the form of contribution to Melvin Jones District 13-D Lions Eye Care Foundation, 5166 East Boulevard N.W., Canton, Ohio 44718 or to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market Street, Boardman, Ohio 44512 in memory of Jean.
