James K. Thomas

Youngstown: There will be a Memorial Mass on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 12 Noon at Saint Matthias Church, 915 Cornell Street, Youngstown for James K. Thomas, 81 who died Saturday evening, November 3, 2012 at his residence.

Jim was born August 17, 1931 in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of the late Raymond and Anna (Hassey) Thomas.

He lived in the Youngstown area his entire life and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School.

Jim worked for Swedlow Plastics for 10 years, the 7up Bottling Company and later for Packard Electric, retiring in 1991.

He was a member of Saint Matthias Church, the Mahoning Valley Archery Club, a member and officer of the Outspokin' Wheelmen Bicycle Club, the Youngstown-Warren Camera Club, Buckeye Wood Turners, Audubon Society, Sunnybrook Travelers, and The Hikers and Campers, Bedford Chapter. He enjoyed woodworking, biking, traveling, and photography, but mostly he enjoyed his family.

Jim is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, the former Patricia A. Bubak whom he married on August 9, 1951, a son Raymond (Debra) Thomas of Youngstown, three daughters; Susan (Greg Norris) Scott of Youngstown, Debra (Edwin) Fay of Poland, Teresa (Larry) Kawecki of North Jackson, 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Besides his parents, Raymond and Anna, Jim was preceded in death by a daughter Cynthia Davis.

Family and friends may call on Saturday, November 10, 2012 from 10:00 to 12 Noon at Saint Matthias Church, Youngstown.
