Boardman: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 12, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Charles Church, 7345 Westview Drive, Boardman for Irene Margaret O'Neill-Halt-Constance, 91 who died Tuesday morning, August 9, 2011 at Hospice House, Poland.
She was born March 8, 1920 in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania the daughter of the late John A. and Anna (Viejeck) Kopstoffer. Her family moved to the Youngstown area when she was a child.
Irene was a telephone operator with the Ohio Bell Company in Youngstown for 27 years, retiring in 1977.
She was a member of Saint Charles Church, where she was a greeter and an usher. Irene was a member of the Ohio Bell Telephone Pioneers of America, a life member of the Communication Workers of America and was a member of Saint Elizabeth Hospital Auxiliary.
Her husband Frederick Halt, whom she married in 1963, died August, 1981, her second husband Bill Constance whom she married on November 9, 1996, died May 8, 2005.
Irene is survived by her children David E. O'Neill of Huntington Beach, California and Eileen M. O'Neill of Danville, California, step-children Robert (Diane) Constance of Boardman, and Nancy (John) Shelley of LeHigh Acres, Florida, 5 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, 4 step great grandchildren and her former husband, Patrick E. O'Neill of Rapid City, South Dakota.
Besides her parents and husbands, Irene was preceded in death by three sisters Helen McLoskey, Ann Recce, and Mary Straley, five brothers; Joseph Stoffer, John Kopstoffer, Edward Kopstoffer, Thomas Kopstoffer, and Andrew Kopstoffer.
Family and Friends may call on Thursday, August 11, 2011 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home, Boardman and on Friday, August 12, 2011 from 9 to 10 at St. Charles Church, Boardman.
The family requests that material tributes take the form of contributions to St. Charles Church, 7345 Westview Drive, Boardman, Ohio 44512 or to Hospice of The Valley, 5190 Market Street, Youngstown, Ohio 44512-2198.
