YOUNGSTOWN - Gust Christofil, 97, died peacefully Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at Hospice House surrounded by his family.

Gust was born July 22, 1928, in Youngstown, the son of James and Elizabeth Pandel Christofil.

He was a 1947 graduate of South High School and a proud veteran of the United States Air Force.

He began his career at General Fireproofing and later worked for Pete's Music and Vending until his retirement.

Gust enjoyed watching sports, especially all of his beloved Cleveland teams. In his younger years, he also loved attending Youngstown Pride games.

He will always be remembered by his niece and nephews, who proclaimed Gust was the greatest uncle ever, Jim Christofil, Cathy (Jim) DiMuzio, Bill (Beth) Christofil and Bob (Sherrie) Christofil; and several great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, George Christofil, Steve Christofil and Georgia Katsestos.

A private family service was held.

Professional services were handled by the Thompson Filicky Funeral Home.
