Obituary

George F. Ade, Jr. Youngstown: Private services were held on Monday, June 23, 2014 at Thompson-Filicky Funeral Home, 4221 Market Street, Boardman for George F. Ade, Jr., 91, who died Friday afternoon, June 20, 2014 at Shepherd of the Valley, Boardman with his family by his side. George was born April 4, 1923 in East Liverpool, the son of the late George F., Jr and Geneva (Steiner) Ade. He graduated from East Liverpool High School, earned his Bachelors degree at Kent State University and his Master's Degree from Westminster College. George served in the Navy for 32 months, serving during World War II. He repaired submarine periscopes in Guam. He taught machine shop and mathematics at Choffin Career Center and machine shop and drafting at Chaney High School for a total of 30 years. George was a member of Lockwood United Methodist Church. He was a conservationist, doing "nuisance" animal trapping for the Department of National Resources, was a member of APCO Conservation Club and was an escort for the hunts at Ravenna Arsenal. George was also a machinist, teaching at Aetna Standard Engineering, City Machine and Welding, and Garland Welding Company. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, and various sports. George's hobbies included woodworking, growing dahlias and oil painting. He was also co-owner of Locust Grove Park. George is survived by a daughter Florence E. (George) Alfona of Youngstown, a son; Robert R. (Barbara) Ade of North Lima, two grandchildren; George Alfona of Youngstown, and Darla (Thomi) Nagel of Fort Worth, Texas, and a great granddaughter Ashley Nagel. George was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-seven years, the former Roberta A. Hood, whom he married on May 8, 1942, died July 19, 2009, his parents and a brother, Robert J.
