Obituary

Boardman: Funeral services will be at noon on Monday, February 7, 2011 at Thompson Funeral Home, 4221 Market Street in Boardman, for Mr. F. Howard Jenkins 99 of Sunrise Assisted Living, formerly of Boardman, who died died Thursday, afternoon at Sunrise. Mr. Jenkins was born November 21, 1911 in New Castle, Pa., a son of the late Henry and Margaret Dolzell Jenkins, and came to the Youngstown area in the late 1940s. He worked in the business office of the Ohio Bell Telephone Company for 37 years. Mr. Jenkins was a member of the Trinty United Methodist Church and the Bell Telephone Pioneers. He served in the U.S. Army at Pearl Harbor during World War II. His wife, the former Virginia Hammond, whom he married December 19, 1932, died February 9, 1990. He leaves a niece, Leilani Matthews of Strongville; two nephews, Howard Matthews of New Castle, and David F. Matthews of Maitland, Fla.; and several great-nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Monday from 10 a.m. to noon at Thompson Funeral Home. Burial will be at Oak Park Cemetery in New Castle.
