Edmund Ickert

Boardman: There will be a prayer service at 10:30 am. at Thompson Funeral Home, 4221 Market Street, Boardman, and a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 11:00 am. at Saint Luke Church, 5235 South Avenue, Boardman for Edmund Ickert 89 who died Sunday evening, December 2, 2012 at Hospice House.

Edmund was born March 7, 1923 in Torchin, Ukraine, the son of the late Adolf and Wilhemina (Litke) Ickert.

He worked in the steel mill as a strander for the Youngstown Sheet & Tube Company for 25 years and later worked for Bernard Daniels in Canfield for 12 years, retiring in 1991.

Edmund was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family. He also enjoyed gardening and helping people whenever they needed help. He was loved by all and will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, the former Barbara Asperger whom he married on November 25, 1947, two sons Reinhold D. (Sophia) Ickert of North Lima, and Edmund B. (Nora) Ickert of Boardman, five grandchildren, Nicole (Chris) Rohrs, Kimberly (Chad) Vodhanel, Jennifer (Kevin) Keyes, Edmund (Leslie) Ickert and Andrea (Anthony) Lordi, and 12 great grandchildren.

Edmund was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Frederick, Jonat, Richard, and two sisters Lina and Elsa and three step-brothers.

Family and friends may call on Saturday, December 8, 2012 from 9:30 to 10:30am. at Thompson Funeral Home, Boardman.
