Dorothy E. Shafer, 99

Boardman:  Dorothy E. Shafer, 99, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Beeghly Oaks with her loving family by her side.

Dorothy was born June 27, 1917 in Youngstown, the daughter of the late David and Elizabeth (Davis) Pittinger.

She was a billing clerk at Northside Hospital for several years and was a lifelong area resident.

Dorothy was a member of Heritage Presbyterian Church, formerly, Brownlee Woods Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her children, Eleanor Delfino of Boardman, David R. Thomas of Brookfield, and Jack M. Bodi of Youngstown; many grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

Besides her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by a son, Robert Thomas; a daughter, Delores Rowe and a brother, Willis Pittinger.

Private funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Thompson Filicky Funeral Home in Boardman.  There were no calling hours.
