Doris Ann (Hendricks) Gething Poland: Doris Ann Gething 95, passed away Thursday, morning, October 22, 2015 at Hospice House with her family by her side. She was born November 10, 1919 in Canfield, the daughter of the late Burt and Emma (Court) Hendricks. Doris Ann graduated from Canfield High School in 1938, where she was Salutatorian of her class. She earned a Bachelor Degree in Political Science from Michigan University in 1942. She worked for American Fire Clay in Canfield as a traffic and transportation controller, before retiring in 1965. Doris Ann was a life time member of Canfield Christian Church. She was a member of National Secretaries, Michigan Club, Republican Women's Club, Senior Craft Club and various card clubs in the area. She is survived by her three children: Sandra A (Alfred Massie, Sr.) Mikkelsen of Poland, Sue A. Gething of Takoma Park, Maryland, Eddye J. Medrano of Peoria, Arizona; six grandchildren; six step grandchildren; twenty one great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and a sister Donna Helmick and a sister-in-law,Virginia Hendricks, both of Canfield. Doris Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 51 years, Edgar M. Gething whom she married February 14, 1946 and died November 27, 1997; three brothers Vernon Hendricks, Lester Hendricks, Burt Hendricks Jr; and two sisters, Vera Atkins and Alberta Bowman. Per Doris Ann's wishes, there will be no calling hours or services.
