Brandon Florida: Family and friends may call on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at Thompson Funeral Home, 4221 Market Street, Boardman, follow by a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. for Donald Hilbert, 80, of Brandon, Florida, formerly of Youngstown, who died Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at Lifepath Hospice in Sun City, Florida.
Donald was born July 17, 1931 in Youngstown, Ohio to the late Frank and Elsie (Martin) Hilbert. He lived in the Youngstown area until 1982.
He was a veteran of the Air Force, serving in the Korean Conflict. Donald had worked in the Youngstown area as a truck driver for Stoney's Trucking Company and later Youngstown Cartage Trucking until moving to Brandon, Florida in 1982. After moving to Brandon, he continued to drive truck for CTL Trucking Company before retiring in 1993. After retiring, he enjoyed working part-time with Greater Tampa Auto Auctions for 14 years.
Donald leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 41 years, Betty Jane (Pritts) Hilbert; his brother Thomas (Rae) Hilbert of Boardman, his children Debra L. Hilbert, David L. (Donna) Hilbert, Donald Lyle (Sally) Hilbert, all of Youngstown, Dawn L. "Pebbles" Jacobs of Burghill, Ohio, and Denise "Angel" Hilbert of Struthers; his step-children, Christina (Bob) Mills of Needles, California, Cindy (Mike) Wilson of North Lima, and Keith Ragan of Gibsonton, Florida, 13 grandchildren and two great grandsons
Besides his parents, Donald was preceded in death by three brothers ; Frank "Brother" Hilbert, Jr., William Hilbert, and Randall Hilbert, and two sisters Alice Smith and Donna Wem.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that material tributes take the form of contributions in Donald's name to Lifepath Hospice, Sun City Hospice House, 3723 Upper Creek Drive, Ruskin, Fl. 33573.
Donald was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
