Obituary

Austintown – Albert M. “Sonny” Tuchek III, 59, of Austintown, passed away at his residence on Saturday evening, June 13, 2026.

He was born on October 22, 1966, in Youngstown, the son of Albert M. “Sonny” Tuchek II and Carol (DiRocco) Tuchek, and was a lifelong area resident.

Albert graduated from Chaney High School, where he excelled in football. He enjoyed a career as a laborer with various companies throughout the Mahoning Valley, where he made many lasting friendships.

Albert had a true passion for sports. He proudly served as an assistant coach for YMCA girls basketball teams and Austintown Girls Softball teams. He also coached defense for the West Side Patriots youth football team, helping lead the team to a Super Bowl championship during his season with the organization.

Albert loved staying active through exercise and cherished time spent with his beloved dogs, Luna and Jerzy. Whether taking them for walks or working on one of his many projects, he was happiest when keeping busy. Known affectionately as “Mr. Fix-It,” Albert was always ready to lend a hand and put his skills to work.

He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Stephen (Miriah) Tuchek and Sara (Matthew Bellish) Tuchek, both of Austintown; his father, Albert M. “Sonny” Tuchek II; his brothers, Ryan (Patty) Tuchek, Eric (Becky) Tuchek, Dominic Tuchek, and Tim Tuchek; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

While Albert will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort in knowing he is reunited with his mother, Carol Tuchek; his wife, Tracey Johnstone; and his son, Sean Tuchek, and is now at peace.

Albert will be remembered for his immense heart, unwavering kindness, infectious sense of humor, and the love he shared with family, friends, teammates, and all who knew him.

In accordance with Albert’s wishes, no funeral or public services will be held. His family will celebrate his life privately.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of Thompson-Filicky Funeral Home, 4221 Market Street, Boardman.
