Cincinnati: William Fred Rehn, formerly of Youngstown, passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2017 in Cincinnati of natural causes at the age of 95.
He was born in Cincinnati on June 2, 1922.
William, known as "Bill", graduated from Hughes High School and the University of Cincinnati with a degree in Metallurgical Engineering.
His college years were interrupted by WWII where he served in England, France, and Germany as a Staff Sargent while earning 5 battle stars.
Bill began his career with Youngstown Sheet and Tube Company in Youngstown, OH and in 1967 was promoted to the Indiana Harbor site where he eventually rose to the position of Works Manager. He worked for 38 years and was once recognized by the National Management Association as Executive of the Year in the Chicago area, and interviewed on the NBC Today Show concerning the steel industry.
He retired to the Cincinnati area and volunteered at the Valley Interfaith Food and Clothing Center, Mathew 25, and the Montgomery Community Church.
Bill is survived by his daughter Melanie McKinnie of Cincinnati, his son, Richard (Barbara Donahue) of Chicago, grandsons Alexander Rehn and Andrew Rehn, and many relatives and friends in the Youngstown and Cincinnati areas.
Besides his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, the former Betty J. Yeany, died November 18, 2010
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 10 am at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Chapel, 5400 Market Street in Youngstown.
