    Woodbridge, Virginia:  There will be funeral services on Monday, August 28, 2017 at 3:30 pm. at Thompson Filicky Funeral Home, 4221 Market Street in Boardman for Raymond J. Braidich, 99, formerly of Glen Oaks Drive and Shepherd of the Valley, who passed away Tuesday morning, August 22, 2017 in Woodbridge, Virginia with his loving family by his side.

     Raymond was born February 27, 1918 in Slovan, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Joseph J. and Susanna (Tomajko) Braidich. 

     He moved to the Youngstown area as a child, graduated from Scienceville High School and served in the Marine Corps during World War II.

     Raymond worked for the Youngstown Health Department, Dairy Division for over 43 years, retiring as the Chief Sanitarian in January of 1983. 

     He was a charter member of Christ Church Presbyterian in Youngstown. Raymond was a member of AMVETS Post 44, American Legion Post 777, the Tri State Marine Detachment Marine Corps League, the United Veterans Council of Youngstown, and VFW Post 9947.

     Raymond is survived by his two children, Ronald L. Braidich, and his wife Diana of Summerfield, Florida and Nancy Pallo and her husband, Major Mike Pallo USMC, Retired, of Woodbridge, Virginia; a brother Emery Braidich and his wife, Shirley of Tallmadge, Ohio; five grandchildren, Colette (Jerry) Dorman of Canton, Michigan, TJ (Lisa) Braidich of New Hartford, Connecticut, Jason (Melissa) Braidich of West Hartford, Connecticut, Todd (Beth) Pallo of Lone Tree, Colorado and Kerry (Ed) Cash of Franklin, Tennessee; and 16 great grandchildren. 

     Besides his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, the former Myrna Clark, whom he married on September 20, 1940, and died November 19, 1997; two brothers, George Braidich and Milan Braidich; and his sister, Emilia Braidich. 

     Family and friends may call on Monday, August 28, 2017 from 2:30 to 3:30 pm at Thompson Filicky Funeral Home, funeral service to follow at 3:30 pm.

     Ray will be remembered by family and friends for his devotion and loyalty to them, and his deep love for God and this country as evidenced in his tireless hours serving at the church and in the many veteran organizations he participated in on behalf of all veterans.

    Graveside Services with full Military Honors will be conducted by the Tri State Marine Detachment Marine Corps League on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at 10 am at Green Haven Memorial Gardens, 3495 S. Canfield-Niles Road in Canfield.

 

    In lieu of flowers, the family requests that material tributes take the form of contributions to one of the following:  Christ Church Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 1933 Canfield Road, Youngstown, Ohio  44511; Mahoning Veterans Memorial, 291 Chapel Lane, Canfield, Ohio  44406; or Shepherd of the Valley (Poland) 5525 Silica Rd. Austintown, Ohio 44515 in memory of Raymond.
