George I. Brown, Jr.

      Austintown:  There will be funeral services on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 10:30 am at Wickcliffe Presbyterian Church, 45 Idlewood Road in Austintown, for George I.. Brown, Jr., 73, who died Monday evening, April 3, 2017 at Northside Medical Center with his family by his side. 

      George was born January 19, 1944 in Altnoona, Pa., the son of the late George I. and Dorothy A. (Kucharek) Brown, Sr. He moved to the Youngstown area in 1949.

    He graduated from Austintown Fitch High School in 1962 and attended Youngstown University.

      George served in the Army during Vietnam and was a helicopter mechanic 

      George was an auto mechanic at Hindson Tires Services in Youngstown for over 15 years. 

     He was a member Wickcliffe Presbyterian Church. 

      George enjoyed collecting stamps, coins, model trains and model cars. He enjoyed working on and restoring automobiles.   He was a member of the NRA .   He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, Jada and Jacob. 

      George is survived by his wife of 47 years, the former Judith L. Woods, whom he married on September 5, 1970; a daughter, Jennifer L. (Jason) Schrader of Youngstown; a brother Richard C. Brown of Austintown; and 2 grandchildren, Jada Schrader and Jacob Schrader, both of Youngstown. 

      Family and friends may call on Friday, April 7, 2017 from 5 to 7 pm at Thompson Filicky Funeral Home, 4221 Market Street in Boardman and on Saturday, from 9:30 to 10:30 at Wickcliffe Presbyterian Church in Austintown.
